Hello, Shaken Baby
Hello,
Shaken Baby Syndrome is a form of child abuse usually caused by violent ROTATIONAL movement of the head of the child. Gentle rocking of the baby in a parent's lap or in a cradle does not normally cause any harm to the child, so there is no cause for concern. However caregivers must be educated not to violently or vigorously shake the baby in the cradle.

It might be too early to detect those diseases, but like drwasim posted, you might check if your child has achieved those milestones...All children are different so you can probably take it one at a time!

Hi,
Your baby could just be a little slow in development. Or it could be just that she is absolutely normal. But please check if she has attained the milestones for her age. Normally for her age, she should be able to sit without any support and transfer objects from hand to hand and also pick up objects on her own. She should also be able to reach out to objects and try to take them.

Hello
Hello Shwetha,
Babies normally have certain developmental milestones which they are expected to attain in their respective periods. A 7 month baby normally sits up without support and swing hands, will be able to transfer objects from one hand to another. She will also try to reach out to colourful objects near her. It is at this age that babies try to move because now they can sit without support and will start making more noice and more drooling.
This is just a synopsis of what happens in some babies. That said, please remember that each baby is unique and some will take their own sweet time to attaing milestones. Milestones delayed by about 1-2 months is usually harmless. But as a mother, please look out for these milestones so that you can keep a track of what is going on.
You can try to stimulate your baby by placing colourful and noisy objects near her, just out of her reach. If she cries then encourage her to take it but don't give it to her directly. Make her take it. She should also try to change objects from one hand to another and also start banging two things to make noice.
